The layout has been changed so the ads don't load until the rest of the page has. Blocking ads means that no money is received from them. The T-Shirts are reasonably priced if you aren't a tight-fisted scrooge and want to support an independent website.

What Tom did to the people using ad-blocker was funny, since they're the sort of people who are just taking from the site without giving anything back.
