Look, I see your point, it's rude and annoying of Newgrounds to keep forcing ads down your throat, but they need sales to survive, and if the money flow stops, this site stops. None of us would want that.

Most of the store items make more money for the artists who made them than they do for Newgrounds.

Ads are intended to gain profit, websites don't generate much profit unless they have ads or stores to create revenue from. Newgrounds isn't nearly as bad as sites like bestpicsaround.com where every new page brings a wave of 5+ ads fitted with their demonic ploys. With Newgrounds there's no annoying audio, and there's 1 or 2 ads on one page tops; sometimes being one of NG's own ads. I cannot consider an ad that advertises a product or feature of the site to be much more that a link or a portal to another part of the site.
As far as knowing that the artists and musicians of this site are recieving their fair share of the profits, they do. Once a month Tom will give prizes to the top 5 movies and games, that's all money generated from ads and store profit. To even support your ideals that only artists you 'give two shits about' should recieve this honey, those are the very people winning contests like Pico Day and the monthly/yearly awards! In the grand scheme of things, the money is in fact trickling down to the nether regions of this site, to the people who most often deserve it. Sadly this doesn't mean the specific artists you give two shits about will recieve anything, heck, Bliss wasn't far off from a montly, and we generally do good work.
All in all it's just this website's blood to have ads and sell products, it needs to! It's fine that you're keeping your adblocker on, and I have good reason to believe that atleast half the site does too, but that doesn't really call for a public assumption of Tom's alterior motives. I personally find just ignoring them to do the trick, the only ones that pose any real annoyance to me are the in-game ads, which sadly, cannot be avoided. For good reason too, because the artists directly profit from those, thusly supporting your primary desire to fund the artists.
